As a longtime DAT member, it has been exciting to be a part of a group that has played the key role in creating Brooks’ fine collection of decorative arts, one that continues to grow. It's rewarding to know that DAT fosters the community’s interests in art while supporting our civic museum.
I never knew it could be so much fun to be a patron of the arts. Decorative Arts Trust has interesting events and has amassed a wonderful collection for the Brooks.
My membership in Decorative Arts Trust has led to an exposure of an incredible roster of interesting speakers and many new friendships with individuals of similar interests. Visits to private residences and historic sites have been some of my most memorable experiences.
Decorative Arts Trust is the only organization in Memphis solely dedicated to decorative arts: furniture, glass, textiles, ceramics, and metals. Decorative Arts Trust members aid Brooks Museum in acquiring objects for the permanent collection as well as for exhibitions and often assist with sponsorships. This support group of Memphis Brooks Museum of Art was founded in 1985 and its original objectives are still embraced by an ever-expanding membership:
Membership is open to all members of the public. Lectures held at Brooks Museum are free with Museum admission. A more complete view of the work of DAT may be obtained by viewing the Upcoming Events and the Collection pages of this site.
